MIDDS launches a UGC approved Degree course in Animation
Now, that the twelfth board exams are over, it’s that time of the year again when students and their parents are busy deciding upon a career. The career choices today are more than ever. Medicine and Engineering, the most sought after careers of yesteryears are become passé soon and more and more youth today are opting for new age careers. One of the quickly emerging streams is animation. A perfect blend of creativity and technical aspects, Animation and Visual Effects provide a great platform for people who are looking to an exciting career with great pay packets.
So far, only diploma program were available for Animation. Now, Meteor Institute of Digital Design Studies (MIDDS) is now offering a 3 year B.Sc. Degree in Media Graphics & Animation. This course is recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC). The program has been developed by a panel of highly acclaimed animators from several studios and the syllabus is in line with the constantly evolving needs of the industry.
Satyam Bansal, MD, MIDDS said. “This course offers students an opportunity to earn a govt. of India recognized degree and also pursue their course at a more relaxed pace which is often the demand of a creative field.” MIDDS emphasizes on development of a Show reel (final project) since a strong portfolio of work is an essential part of getting a job in the animation industry and becoming an animator. Animation and VFX today is used in practically every industry ranging from films, advertising, interior designs, architecture, medical, engineering, and video gaming to name a few. Students graduating with a degree program can expect to start with salaries around Rs. 20000 which would escalate to Rs. 50000 in about three years.
The degree program at MIDDS includes 2D animation, 3D animation, Visual Effects, clay modeling, industry guest lectures, studio and shooting field trips, acting classes, and motion capture workshops which makes it the most comprehensive degree program of its kind.
