Motion Capture Workshop -12-04-08

MIDDS conducted a workshop on Motion Capture technology for its students. Motion Capture also known as Mo cap has been used in films like LORD OF THE RINGS, HULK, POLAR EXPRESS, AND MONSTER HOUSE.

Mo Cap involves measuring an object's position and orientation in physical space, then recording that information in a computer-usable form. Objects of interest include human and non-human bodies, facial expressions, camera or light positions, and other elements in a scene.

Motion Capture is used to a large extent today also by Gaming companies for capturing complex action sequences & difficult facial expressions.

Mr. Vinnie Reddy , Founder, Animoto Studio and Consultant, Trine Animation Studio conducted a workshop in Motion Capture for the students of MIDDS (Meteor Institute of Digital Design Studies)

Mr. Vinnie gave a practical demonstration by putting on the Mo cap suit himself and showing the capture of his movements on to a character on the PC. He showed the various applications of this technology by showing video clipping of different games and how Mo cap was used in them.
